Design
Even though the appearance of the phone is not too impressive, it does belong to the segment of protected IP68 smartphones. The case of the Armor X6 comes in black only. It is also designed to withstand immersion to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, strong jets of high-temperature water, drops from a height of 1.2 meters, vibration, shaking, high humidity, extreme temperatures, and many other extreme conditions. Overall, the look is just what you would expect from a sturdy model. The yellow details make it stand out even in the busiest place. Other than this, the design is quite simple, which makes the phone very easy to use.
Screen
The Armor X6 comes with an HD screen, made using IPS technology. It is also possible to use it with gloves, thanks to the gloved control mode, which means that this phone can be used in the cold season, or even in a working uniform. Perfect for when you need a reliable phone. The IPS technology we just mentioned is one of the most impressive LCD technologies in the world. The size of the screen is measured in inches, diagonally from corner to corner. Therefore, this model has 5.0 inches and it provides a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Sadly, the visibility of the screen seriously drops when the gadget is in open light.
Performance
The processor that comes with the Armor X6 is a four-core MediaTek MT6580. This is paired with 2 GB of RAM, which unfortunately can not be expanded. Also, the CPU is a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7, and the GPU is a Mali-400. In addition, it runs on Android OS v9.0 (Pie) by default, but the phone’s firmware can be upgraded to a newer version of OS. Therefore, your phone is able to process simple tasks like chatting in instant messengers, web surfing and navigation without any issues. On the other hand, even though it is able to run simple tasks, the chip is not capable to also run modern day games easily. The 16GB of ROM and the microSD card slot are useful for storing music, photos, videos, but not too large apps.
Features & Battery
As a downside, we were rather disappointed to notice that the Armor X6 does not have a fingerprint scanner, NFC capabilities, and it does not support 4G. Nevertheless, it has a built-in GPS receiver, a FM radio receiver, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. The assortment of sensors includes accelerometer, proximity, and compass. For example, the accelerometer is a built-in electronic component that measures tilt and motion. Also, the proximity sensor detects when a user is holding the phone near their face during a call and turns off the display to prevent keypad presses and battery consumption from the display. These sensors come in really handy in order to enjoy the phone fully. Not to mention the non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery that can reach up to 13 hours of talk time.
Main camera
The main camera on the Armor X6 is an 8 MP one with a Dual-LED flash and autofocus. Autofocus is a feature that fine-tunes the focus of the camera, which is a nice feature to have on this smartphone. Even though by now we got used for the main camera to be dual (the least), you can use it underwater, by programming a certain button found on the side of the phone. Of course, if you want to use that button for something else, you can do so freely. Do not expect the main camera to be anything too performant. It is good enough to take a photo or video every now and then, but you will definitely not start your career as a photographer with this.
Front camera
The front camera is a 5 MP. It can also be used underwater, like the main one. Its quality is not too impressive either, as its only purpose could be to replace a mirror, but not anything else really. If you want a phone to take cute Instagram selfies with, this is not the one.
In conclusion, the Armor X6 is a rather simple phone, that does not impress through its capabilities, but it does fulfill its main purpose: to be resistant. If your expectations are not too high, the Armor X6 could be just enough for you. You can find it on AliExpress, and see for yourself if the investment could be worth it for you.
