Redmi 9C: Design
The first thing you will notice about this phone is that it is big, with a big screen, but a discrete selfie camera. On the left side you will notice a SIM tray that can either accept two nano-SIM cards or a combination of a microSD and a single SIM card. On the right side, there are the power and volume buttons. The top has a 3.5 inch port for headphones, while the bottom hosts the microphone, a micro USB charging port, and a speaker grill. As you can tell, the phone only has the essential buttons and ports that it needs, without being overly stuffed.
On the back of the Redmi 9C you will notice the three cameras, together with a LED module block. Below them is the fingerprint sensor, which is highly accessible. Above all this, the looks are also impressive. The blue finish with the striped pattern gives it a very stylish feel. It is also available in other colors, like orange, or black. Either way, it will feel perfect in your hands and very easy to use.
Redmi 9C: Performance
Testing with Antutu, the Redmi 9C got a score of just over 110.000 points. This is just enough when you consider basic, everyday use, like browsing social media, watching videos and playing simple games. Even though this is not a phone designed for gaming, playing PUBG for example, is quite easy. The loading time can indeed be very long, but once it starts, things are not so bad anymore. It is playable, even if the graphics are minimal, the animations are not always fluid and the reaction time is not always optimal.
The Redmi 9C is a great phone for you if you are not a fan of gaming. It handles many simultaneous apps opened without any issues and without lagging. This is highly important if you are generally reliant on your phone to get things done as quickly as possible. As a result, if you happen to be a business person, for example, this model might be just the right choice for you.
Battery
With a battery of 5000mAh, it goes from 100% to 0% in 656 minutes, when the phone has a brightness of 100%. Considering the phone has a brightness of 50%, the battery goes from 100% to 0% in 1915 minutes. This means that on 50% brightness and with moderate use, the battery could last you at least 24 hours. These are definitely some great benchmarks. It also charges from 0% to 100% in 170 minutes. This means 2 hours and 50 minutes, which is not great, but also not terrible at all.
Camera
The primary camera on the Redmi 9C is a 13-megapixel one, while the other two are a 2MP macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The main camera also supports PDAF, a technology that is not frequently found in entry level phones. The photos made during the daytime and the nighttime are both impressive for the market segment. The only issue is that the macro is not able to focus too close, but it still does an impressive job at finding the optimal distance. Overall, the colors are well restored, and the sharpness is also good.
When talking about video quality, the Redmi 9C does not have stabilisation, but neither do other models in the same price range. Therefore, even if the shocks are not dampened, the overall performance is satisfactory. The sharpness is good, the focus is fast and the colors and exposure are good enough, even if they could be better.
In conclusion, the Redmi 9C is a great phone that has a great value. The only advice we would give is that it would be best to get the 3GB RAM and 64GB option, especially if you need more storage. On the other hand, there is also the 2GB / 32GB version that allows you to put in a micro SD card, therefore expanding your storage for a minimum price. Whichever option you choose, just know that you can find it on AliExpress. Also, do not forget to let us know about your experience with it!
