Sharp recently presented their newest models of smartphones, the successors of the well-received AQUOS Sense series. SHARP AQUOS SENSE5G is one of those illustrated examples.
In Japan, these series acquired great popularity among those who love the progress of new technologies. SHARP AQUOS SENSE5G is no exception from the forward-looking technological revolution that is most evident in the display at Sharp.
Yes, Sharp has managed to develop a display type that is quite energy-efficient, and these types are starting to appear in these new phone models.
The fourth generation of the AQUOS Sense series covers the SENSE5G, Sense 4, and Sense 4 Plus models. Apart from that, there is a high and also 5G model, which can be a flagship device of the manufacturer. This is the AQUOS Zero 5G Basic.
Now I’m interested in the SHARP AQUOS SENSE5G, let’s see in detail what this device can cover and what specifications lie under the hood.
Body & Desing
At first glance, the phone turned out to be relatively square based on the pictures. Maybe it’s Sharp’s design. The other models look quite square-like too. It reminds me of the OPPO F21.
Since this is not a well-known phone brand I haven’t seen too many of them in Europe, and maybe it won’t be, and they were meant only for the Asian market we’ll see later in the year ahead.
The smartphone’s dimensions are 148 x 71 x 8.9 mm and weigh 176 grams. It is on the easy side of phones. In terms of screen size, I think that’s why it’s easier.
The SENSE5G’s body has an aluminium alloy, which is a premium feature nowadays. This phone got IP65 and IP68 certificates of water and dust resistance.
AQUOS SENSE5G is capable of storing two dual SIMs.When you want to insert a microSD card, you can do it quickly up to 1TB.
Unfortunately, there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack port, but there is a USB type C reversible connection.
AQUOS SENSE5G it will be available in three colours: Light Copper, Olive Silver, and the classic Black.
Display
This device has a 5.8-inch IGZO LCD panel. The IGZO panel is an innovation of Sharp. This technology allows high-resolution solutions, with meagre energy consumption and a much more detailed touch panel. The low noise on touch panel response allows a more accurate experience.
This display has a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. The IGZO LCD panel has a 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution, with a 435 PPI density and the phone itself has an 84.79% screen-to-body ratio.
The refresh rate of the screen is 120hz, which is laudable.
Performance
AQUOS SENSE5G has one of the first Snapdragon 690, 5G capable chipset. This 8-nanometer chipset can go up to 2 GHz processing frequency with eight cores at 64 bits.
The Adreno 619L graphical processing unit just ads more value to the performance level.
AQUOS SENSE5G comes with 4 GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM units that work at 1866 MHz.
Speaking about the storage space, AQUOS SENSE5G has 64 GB of UFS type internal storage which you can expand with a microSD card up to 1TB.
AQUOS SENSE5G has out of the box Android 11 operating system.
Camera
The selfie camera is an 8 Megapixel wide sensor with an f / 2.2 aperture value.
The video recording capabilities of this sensor are ending up at 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.
The rear camera combo on the back consists of three sensors: a 12 Megapixel wide sensor with f / 2.0 aperture value, a 12 Megapixel ultra-wide sensor with f / 2.4 aperture, and lastly an 8 Megapixel telephoto lens with f / 2.4 aperture.
The primary camera is able of recording videos at 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. It has electronic image stabilization, HDR mode, panorama, and other standard features.
Battery and Features
AQUOS SENSE5G has a 4570 mAh battery, that is capable of powering up this device up to one weak, according to the manufacturer.
No doubt that the IGZO panels have some benefits, for example, the less energy consumption advantages appear in the phone’s operating time.
Some exciting feature that AQUOS SENSE5G has is that the fingerprint unlock sensor is mounted under the display.
AQUOS SENSE5G is available for the 5G networks; it has NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS with GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, all kind of connectivity features that you expect from a phone in 2020.
The prices are unknown for these models; the unveiling those not happened yet. Probably it will be available only in the Japanese market in the final quarter of this year.
