A new smartphone might cost a fortune for some people, so they’re looking for alternatives to find either a cheap dupe or a phone version that isn’t brand new. Smartphone lovers, here we bring you the Doogee X70 Smartphone Review in which you will learn about a phone with great specs and which goes easy on your budget.
Design & Display
There is nothing extraordinary when it comes to describing the Doogee X70’s design. It really just looks like a regular phone; however, all of the attention goes to the impressive display.
While the display occupies a significant amount of the phone, there is absolutely nothing to be hiding those enormous bezels. Thankfully, there isn’t any extra hidden bezel once you turn on the display.
The X70 works with a 19:9 aspect ratio 5.5″ display making it easy to hold in one hand. The odd resolution comes from the notch, and it is 1132 x 540. The notch also gives the phone an excellent design and also a reasonable PPI of 232. This phone might be enough for most, but it won’t impress your friends if that’s your goal.
We would like to see more smartphone makers take risks with their budget offerings, like the Glass Sandwich build on the UHANS MX, but we can’t have it all. The X70 will please the crowd, and it will offer you all your basic smartphones need in a nicely designed package.
Performance & Connectivity
The Doogee X70 is another budget smartphone that’s chosen to lose the 4G and pass the saving onto you. When you’re paying £60 for a smartphone, you can’t possibly expect to have a large data package and will spend most of your time on WiFi.
The processor behind the X70 is a budget MediaTek chip that performs very well for light users (Browsing, social, email). The 2GB of RAM will help speed up switching between apps; however, you have to note that this won’t be the fastest phone ever, so don’t overwork it.
The phone comes equipped with the latest Android OS (8.1), but we’re not getting the optimized ‘Go Edition’, which we saw on the Blackview A30 that is also disappointing but not a deal-breaker.
The fact that they have added the fingerprint reader, as well as Face-ID unlock, is a nice feature to have at this price point.
Overall, it’s a budget phone, so you can’t expect it to have the best performance; however, this phone is pretty good for a budget phone with a very budget price tag.
Camera
The dual camera on the X70 is quite a surprise. It’s too early to tell on quality, but having an 8MP + 5MP setup and a phone this price is rare.
The photos taken with this phone are quite ok and clear when taken in bright daylight. However, it still has some issues with low light landscapes.
Indeed, the camera is alright, but you can’t compare the photos taken with this device with the ones taken from HTC.
Battery Life
We’ve mentioned the Blackview A30 in this review quite a lot as it’s a very similar phone in many aspects. But there is one area where the Doogee X70 wins hands-down is in battery life.
The 4000mAh battery is impressive, and while there is no fast-charge to be seen, at least you’ll be getting well over a day’s usage out of the X70. You can force it to 3 days on a maximum, but that’s only if you just barely use it.
Hardware and Software
This smartphone is powered by the MediaTek MT6580M chip, which was manufactured on a 28nm process node. It has 4 cores of processor, which is reaching a smooth speed of 1.3GHz.
On the other hand, the ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics card comes with 2-cores and clocks at 416MHz. But in terms of RAM, the X70 is generous in that department because it’s packing 2GB RAM, which reaches a memory speed of 533MHz. It has 16GB storage space as well, and you can upgrade up to 64GB. The X70 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
