The first quarter of the year 2021 has been a very busy one for Realme who has released quite impressive number of new smartphones. The most recent products from Realme are Realme 8 Smartphone and Realme 8 Pro Smartphone. Today we will talk about the vanilla version, Realme 8, which is more affordable than its Pro version.
Realme 8 has, as it was mentioned above, an affordable price of approximative 169 euros. The price is quite a good one if we look a little at the specifications that the smartphone has. Its modern design has a glossy back panel that fits a square camera which has many sensors, perfect for those of you who prefer using the phone for taking pictures. The smartphone also has a decent chipset that paired with a high amount of RAM it can serve you well. Probably the most surprising feature about this phone is its big battery that is charging really fast, we got to give it a plus in this domain. Let’s dive more into Realme 8 details and discover together if this smartphone is worth the money.
Design of Realme 8
The smartphone design is nothing particularly impressive or new to the market but it still has an appealing look. Some of you might find the design a little too flashy others may hate it, it really comes up to the people’s preferences. Though many customers have declared their love for the new mirror and mate design at the back. A minor problem when it comes to design is the Dare to Leap logo, which looks a little odd in its current position. The fingerprint magnet is also not so reliable as it gets dirty very fast and thus requiring a great effort to clean it. You will probably need to wipe it a couple of times before you can call it clean.
The camera in the shape of a rectangular has a pleasing aesthetic design that fits well with the finish of the phone, I would risk saying that it looks better than its current price range. Realme designed this smartphone without any rough edges and at the same time, they managed to maintain the phone feel solid in hand. The company also mentioned that the smartphone is one of the thinnest 5G users on the market, and we must give it to them as Realme 8 thickness is only 8.5mm. When it comes to weight the smartphone is as expected very light, weighing only 185g. The other features from its design include a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and at the bottom a speaker grille. An important feature is that the power button has a fingerprint sensor integrated. Realme 8 smartphone design is probably taught as being more inclined to usability than a very flashy appearance.
Realme 8 Camera
When it comes to the camera, Realme 8 has a primary camera of 48 MP that is using a Samsung GM1 sensor. The Samsung’s camera is paired with another sensor, B&W, and with a macro shooter that has an unspecified resolution. The setup is not very suitable for a smartphone of this caliber and it would have been great if it would have had an ultra-wide lens. The photos users will take with this smartphone will look pretty decent, but they won’t be by any means extraordinary. Dynamic range is performing pretty well and also if you are good at taking photos then the exposure in dark areas will shot you good photos. The Night Mode is also a lackluster feature as it mostly fails to do its intended job.
The B&W sensor is performing decent enough, if you are using a monochrome filter on a shot using the primary camera then the result will be pretty much the same as if you would have used the B&W lens. Good edge detection and a soft blur friendly with the eye make the Portrait mode shots quite decent. When it comes to Macro shots then you must pray for good lighting of the picture subjects if you want good results. The last camera we will talk about is the front camera that has a 16MP sensor which is the standard for most past Realme smartphones. The front camera does its job considering the pricing of the smartphone.
Realme 8: Performance and Software
The Chinese company of Realme has decided that is time to use the new 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC for its Realme 8 5G version which has really good benchmark scores. The truth is that Realme 8 is a fast smartphone judging at price and it promises to maintain a decent performance during the years. Realme 8 smartphone comes in two versions, one that has 8GB RAM and one that has 4GB. Both versions have a Dynamic RAM Expansion Technology that allows users to extend the RAM by converting the internal storage into virtual memory. For example, the 4GB version can go up to 5GB and the 8GB version up to 11GB when using the Dynamic RAM Expansion Technology. The battery of the Realme 8 Smartphone is a sizeable 5,000mAh one that supports 18W fast charging.
